Pre and Post Surgery Instructions
​  Pre-Surgery Instructions:
 ​-No Aspirin or blood thinners 3 days prior to surgery (unless told otherwise).
 -Eat before your appointment (unless told otherwise).
 -If you are getting IV sedation, you should NOT eat 6 hours prior to your appointment.
 -Get a good night's rest.
 -If you are going to be sedated, (orally or IV), bring a driver with you.
 -If you have any medical issues, a consultation with your physician prior to any treatment may be necessary. 
  Post Surgery Instructions: 
​ -Liquids and cold or luke warm food only for the first day.
 -Examples of good foods are juices, milk, Ensure, Jell-O, pudding, yogurt, broth/cream soups, ice cream, smoothies ( NO straws)
 -If you have swelling, ice packs to the face over the surgery area works well. Apply for 15 minutes then remove for 20 min and repeat. Swelling is most evident on the second and third days.
 -Wait to eat until the anesthesia wears off so that you don't bite your cheek, lips or tongue.
 -Do not brush or floss where the surgery was completed. Brush the opposite side and your tongue.
 -Do not use mouth wash such as Listerine, Scope or other products. We will give you a prescription mouthwash.
​ -Do not smoke or use straws for it can cause delayed healing and dry sockets.
